Choose the wash method from the garment label
Look for separate washing, drying and pressing instructions. Photograph the label if you will use a laundry service or a shared machine. Lining, trim and the waistband matter alongside the wool content; instructions for a merino T-shirt do not necessarily apply to trousers.
For garments that permit washing, Woolmark recommends a mild, suitable detergent and distinguishes machine-washable from hand-wash-only clothing. Use the program and conditions specified for your pants. Keep the detergent directions with your travel supply so you can check suitability and dose. Woolmark washing guidance.
If the label requires professional cleaning, arrange that service or bring enough clothing to wait until home. Hand washing is not an automatic substitute.
Have the drying space ready
Woolmark recommends flat drying for knitwear because hanging it wet can stretch the garment. Some woven tailored wool trousers can hang to dry. Follow your pair’s label; when flat support is required, arrange the pants in shape on a clean towel or suitable drying mesh. Avoid direct heat and sunlight. Woolmark drying guidance.
The practical constraint in a hotel is space as well as time. Find somewhere the full garment can dry without folding it into a small damp bundle. Check the waist and seams before packing, and use another pair if those areas are still wet. The overnight-drying guide covers planning around checkout.
Between wears and after the trip
Empty the pockets and air the pants after wearing them. Inspect cuffs, seat and pocket openings for marks before deciding to rewear. An odor-resistance claim does not remove dirt or settle when your pair needs washing.
Use a treatment recommended for the garment if you need to address a stain. Finish the permitted cleaning and drying routine before long-term storage; do not leave damp wool compressed in the suitcase.

Questions before you choose
Can merino travel pants be machine washed?
Some can. The exact garment must permit it, and you should use its specified program, temperature, detergent and drying method.
Should all merino pants dry flat?
Follow the label. Flat support is particularly relevant for wet knit garments, while some woven wool trousers may allow suitable hanging. Do not substitute one method merely because it is more convenient.
