686 Everywhere Slim Fit vs Relaxed Fit

The classic 686 Everywhere Slim and Relaxed share a 94% nylon/6% spandex fabric description, ten-pocket layout and adjustable Innie + Outie drawcord. Their main documented difference is the cut. Choose between these versions for leg room rather than expecting a different pocket system or material.

The classic versions compared

This comparison covers the classic KCRGNS02 Slim and KCRGNS07 Relaxed families. It does not substitute specifications from Everywhere Pant 2 or the cotton Standard pant. Both selected examples are Tobacco 32 × 32.

Pick the leg room you actually need

The relaxed version is the logical first option if a slim leg pulls across your thighs or feels restrictive below the knee. The slim version is the first option if you want a closer outline and already wear slim trousers comfortably. Neither name gives a universal body-type rule.

The selected examples share the 32 × 32 labels, so compare the cuts at that starting size. Sizing up Slim changes the waist as well as the leg; it is not the same adjustment as choosing Relaxed. Use the seated fit check to locate any pulling.

Compare slim-fit travel trousers if you prefer a closer outline, while keeping seated room as a separate requirement.

The shared features are not reasons to choose one cut

The classic pages describe a crotch gusset and a drawcord that can be routed inside or outside the waistband. They also describe a side zip/vent pocket, a packable mesh pocket and small stash compartments. These are common features, so they do not establish a storage advantage for Slim or Relaxed.

Ten pockets do not mean ten large compartments. A card slot, coin pocket and full hand pocket count separately but serve different purposes. Choose a cut in which the items you actually carry sit comfortably; do not treat the count as a ten-item packing checklist.

Looking for lighter fabric instead?

The change from classic Slim to Relaxed is a cut decision. For a fabric-weight comparison, see Everywhere Featherlight versus classic Slim. The shared blend and features here do not establish different drying speed or durability between these two fits.

Questions before you choose

Do classic Everywhere Slim and Relaxed have different fabrics?

The matched classic manufacturer pages both specify 94% nylon and 6% spandex. This does not cover Everywhere Pant 2, Featherlight or cotton Standard versions.

Should I size up Slim to get a relaxed fit?

Start with the Relaxed cut if you want more leg room at a similar waist size. Sizing up Slim also changes the waist and other measurements, so it is not an equivalent adjustment.
