686 Everywhere Featherlight Chino Slim vs Everywhere Slim

686 describes Everywhere Featherlight fabric as 33% lighter than its traditional Everywhere fabric. Both compared slim models still list 94% nylon/6% spandex and ten pockets. The weight claim concerns fabric, not a measured one-third reduction in the complete pants.

What the 33% figure measures

The equal fiber percentages do not make these fabrics identical. 686 explicitly differentiates the Featherlight fabric by weight and also markets it as more breathable and quicker drying. Those are manufacturer statements; we have not independently measured airflow or drying time.

The 33% figure must stay attached to fabric weight. Pockets, waistband, drawcord and other components contribute to the complete garment, so it does not follow that a finished Featherlight pant weighs one-third less. The selected examples also differ in waist and inseam, which makes a garment-weight comparison especially unsuitable.

Compare lightweight travel-pants alternatives if reducing fabric bulk is the deciding requirement, checking what each model actually documents.

You keep the main pocket and adjustment system

Both matched pages describe ten pockets, an Innie + Outie waist drawcord, a crotch gusset and a side zip/vent pocket. That means choosing Featherlight does not require accepting a lower stated pocket count. The drawcord arrangement also remains familiar if you are moving from the classic model.

The ten-pocket count includes compartments with different purposes and sizes. If you carry heavy objects, check the loaded fit separately; this comparison includes no measured pocket-load or sag results.

Choose the fabric after checking the size

Featherlight is the relevant option when you want the brand’s lighter fabric with the same stated pocket count and waist adjustment. Classic Slim remains an option if you already know and prefer its traditional fabric. The heavier fabric alone does not prove greater warmth or durability.

The linked Charcoal pairs differ in both waist and inseam: Featherlight is 34 × 32 and classic Slim is 32 × 34. Select your own measurements before comparing fit. If leg room is the concern, the classic Slim-versus-Relaxed comparison covers that separate choice.

Questions before you choose

Is the whole Featherlight pant 33% lighter?

686’s statement concerns Featherlight fabric compared with traditional Everywhere fabric. It does not establish a 33% lower weight for complete pants in matching sizes.

Does Featherlight use less spandex than classic Everywhere Slim?

No. Both matched manufacturer pages list 94% nylon and 6% spandex. Fabric weight can differ even when fiber percentages match.
